Travel Notes: San Francisco, San Luis Obispo & Los Angeles

San Francisco

For the last several years, Dave and I have been fortunate to get away in February — this year we escaped an exceptionally snowy winter in Maine. We started our vacation-portion of the trip in San Francisco. On our first full day we headed north to see the amazing redwoods in the Muir Woods State Park, caught some amazing views from the Muir Beach Lookout and had a lovely lunch in Stinson Beach before heading back to the city.

San Luis Obispo

A few days later we headed south and stayed at a sweet little inn called Petit Soleil in San Luis Obispo for a couple nights. While it was raining for a lot of our time here, we managed to get out during brief breaks in the weather and explore Morro Bay and a particularly amazing hike at Montaña de Oro State Park.

Los Angeles

We then made our way to LA to work remotely for the remainder of our trip and the sun finally came out. We stayed in the Highland Park neighborhood in a mid-century house on Mount Washington with amazing city and mountain views. We had some great meals — I particularly loved the coffee and pastries at Santa Canela and delicious Lebanese food and neighborhood vibes at Skaf's on York. We worked on east coast time allowing us to get out in the afternoons for some hikes and other adventures. We really enjoy our time in LA and can't wait to get back there again soon.
